MOULTRIE — A 35-year-old Moultrie woman died and two other people were injured in a three-vehicle collision in Tift County Friday.
Lacey Michelle James was killed when her 1997 Ford Taurus collided head-on with another vehicle on Georgia Highway 35, according to Trooper James Miller of the Georgia State Patrol. Georgia Highway 35 is also known as U.S. Highway 319.
Injured were Cory Procter of Moultrie, a passenger in James’ car, and Teresa Austin of Thomasville, driver of the 2006 Cadillac that collided with the Taurus.
A Tift Regional Medical Center spokeswoman said Procter was treated at the emergency room and transferred to another hospital, but she didn’t know what hospital that was.
Austin was treated at TRMC and released, Miller said.
A Sanderson Farms tractor-trailer driven by Peter Reizman of Moultrie was also involved. Reizman was not injured.
Details of what actually happened are not being released until the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team completes its investigation, Miller said. He expects the team’s report early this week.
The accident occurred at 6:48 p.m. Friday just south of Kelltown. The highway there is four-lane and was dry, Miller said, and it was dark — although whether any of that had a bearing on the accident won’t be known until the completion of the SCRT report.
