Friendship Missionary Baptist to hold revival, homecoming

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — Friendship Missionary Baptist Church invites current and former members, former pastors, and neighbors to its Spring Revival and Homecoming Celebration.

The Annual Spring Revival will begin tonight and end on Friday, April 20, at the church, 421 Sixth Ave. N.W. Services will be at 7 p.m. nightly.

The theme for the occasion is “Remembering God’s Help.” The scripture is taken from Psalm 77.

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1905 in Tigna before it relocated to its present location in 1923. Several pastors have led the congregation through its 102 years of establishment.

The church’s current pastor, the Rev. Alfred Jones, will be in charge of services each night. The Chris Roberson Gospel Choir of Mother Easter Baptist Church and the Friendship choirs will present the music each night.

The celebration will climax on Sunday, April 22, at the 11 a.m. worship service with an Old Fashioned Homecoming. The celebration theme is “Remembering the Past to Appreciate the Present” with scriptural reading from Psalm 78.

Homecoming is a tradition observed throughout generations of God-fearing people. It is one of the missions at Friendship Baptist Church to continue to honor this very special tradition, worshipping in the same manner as so many did in the past.

To create the atmosphere of olden days, the attire will be relaxed. Dress in your favorite overalls, jeans, long dresses, aprons, bonnets and brogan shoes. An old-fashioned dinner will follow the service.

The pastor, the committee, Sisters Catherine Shannon, Hattie Pullins and Hattie Walker and the church family are looking forward to seeing former members, relatives, and friends. The invitation is extended to anyone who maybe looking for a church home.
