Festival to celebrate with song

MOULTRIE — The canopy of holiday lights that graces downtown Moultrie inspires wonder in young and old alike. What more could one ask for to have a magical evening in South Georgia?

Well, how about music?

The Downtown Moultrie Association and Moultrie Main Street have made the finishing touches to the annual “Winter Festival Under the Lights,” which will be held Thursday evening on the courthouse square. This year visitors can enjoy music from various groups, children’s games and crafts, shopping and Christmas lights that draw visitors from all around.

Musical entertainment will begin at 5:50, according to Main Street Director Amy Johnson. Downtown stores will be open for Christmas shopping, and many will have specials for Thursday only. There will be games and crafts for the kids as well as a jumpy house and slide. The event wraps up about 8:30 p.m.

The schedule for entertainment includes:

• 5:50 p.m. — Kick Fire.

• 6:15 p.m. — CCHS Serenaders.

• 6:30 p.m. — Colquitt County Men’s Chorus.

• 7 p.m. — Autreyville Baptist Church Choir.

• 7:30 p.m. — Greater Newton Grove Cathedral Choir.

In addition to the music on the courthouse square and the holiday decorations, the event will feature musical acts provided by Beans and Strings along the sidewalks.
