Charles Rumley

VERONA, Pa. — Charles Rumley, 81, of Verona, Pa., died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007, at Woodhaven Care Center in Monroeville, Pa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 8, at Maranatha Bible Baptist Church in Wilkinsburg, Pa.

Born and raised in Sterling, Ill., he was one of three sons of the late Charles and Opal Miles Rumley. He was an ordained Baptist minister, graduating from Columbia Bible College in South Carolina. He also graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in mathematics. He and his wife did two five-year stints in the Philippines in the 1950s as missionaries for International Missions. After completing their mission, they joined the Maranatha Baptist Church in Wilkinsburg. He was employed by the W.T. Grant Co. and managed the Grant store in Penn Hills, Pa., prior to joining Primerica as a financial planner. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corps as a rear turret gunner on B-25s in the Pacific.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Rumley.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Reyburn Rumley of Verona, Pa.; five children, Charles Rumley of Verona, Pa., Margaret Porter of Greenville, S.C., Rebecca Critzer and David Rumley, both of Michigan, and Elizabeth Simonaire of Pasadena, Md.; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a brother, Stanton Rumley and wife Norma of Moultrie.

Louise Priest Branch

MOULTRIE — Louise Priest Branch, 85, of Moultrie, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. Interment will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tift County. Bo Sweat, Gerald Bledsoe, Keith Plymel and Dan Priest will serve as pallbearers.

Born Sept. 17, 1921, in Tift County to the late James Henry and Martha Jane Walker Priest, she was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the widow of Hoke Smith Branch and was preceded in death by three sons, Hoke Smith Branch Jr., Eugene Hendrix Branch and William Franklin Branch.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bentley and husband John and Carolyn Wishum and husband Gene, all of Moultrie; a daughter-in-law, Frances Branch of Monroe, N.C.; five grandchildren, Darren Wishum, Melanie Kirksey, David Branch, Laura Sweat and Brad Bentley; and five great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour and may be contacted at 504 Revills Road in Moultrie.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
