Latrelle Folsom Castleberry

TIFTON — Latrelle Folsom Castleberry, 74, of Tifton died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006 at Memorial Hospital of Adel.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Church Cemetery.

Survivors include sons, Stanley and Carol Folsom of Orlando, Fla., Jimmy and Patricia Folsom of Panama City, Fla. and Gene and Wilmer Castleberry of Tifton, Ga.; daughters, Kathy Hubbard of Valdosta and Sue Hart of Tifton; brothers, Leroy Strickland of Jacksonville, Fla. and Dean Strickland of Riverside, Calif.; a sister, Nell Ray of Jacksonville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 - 9 at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home on Hwy. 41-S.

John R. Alderman, Jr.

BAINBRIDGE — John R. Alderman, Jr., 91, of Bainbridge died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., today at First Baptist Church in Bainbridge. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 Monday night at Ivey Funeral Home.

Rene’ D. Kemp

HINESVILLE, GA. — Rene’ D. Kemp, 70, former State Senator, died Feb. 4, 2006 at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Ga. after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 at First Baptist Church of Hinesville with Dr. Charles E. Owens officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at his family gravesite at the Swainsboro City Cemetery in Swainsboro, Ga.

Survivors include a son, Drew Kemp of Hinesville; two sisters, Patricia Kemp Perdue and her husband Ray of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and Catherine Kemp Parker of Moultrie; a sister-in-law, Ann Kemp Murray of Wadmalaw Island, S.C.; several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Matalice Spivey Fech of Vidalia, Ga.

The family requests that memorials be made to the donor’s choice of charities.

Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10 at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel.

Bernice Suber Harrell

DOERUN — Bernice Suber Harrell, 88, of Doerun died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at her residence.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Salem Cemetery in Thomas County.

Born Jan. 26, 1918, in Thomas County, Mrs. Suber was the daughter of the late Leila Hobbs Suber and the late James Jackson Suber. She was a seamstress at Warner’s and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Webster Harrell.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Stanley Harrell of Moultrie; a daughter, Shelba H. Mercer and husband Jim of Doerun; a sister, Vivian Luke of Thomasville; three grandsons, Tim Gordon, Russ Gordon and Marty Gordon; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Bettie Lee Thomas Cook

MOULTRIE — Bettie Lee Thomas Cook, 68, of Moultrie died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Dee and Tim Loveless officiating. Interment will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens.

Born April 6, 1937, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the late Ethelene Weldon Thomas and the late Huell Thomas. She was a homemaker and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Cook of Moultrie; two sons, Rodney Jack Cook and wife Anna of Augusta, Ga. and Glenn Cook and wife Sonya of Moultrie; a brother, Alvin H. Thomas of Moultrie; two sisters, Zadie Thomas Dabdoub of Moultrie and Bobbie Merle Klein of Augusta, Ga.; and 10 grandchildren, Andrew Cook, Libby Cook, Tessa Cook, Jack Cook, Elijah Lee Cook, Stephanie Cronk, Joey Cronk, Tricia Leigh Cronk, Aron Ferguson and Amanda Ferguson.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Anthony Paul Brown

MEIGS — Anthony Paul Brown, 21, of Meigs died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Shiver and the Rev. Harris Malcom officiating. Interment will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Wes Hooks, David Cannon, Jake Hooks, Bryan Wynn, Pete Purvis, Russ Godwin, Richard Seifer and Dillon Gruby will serve as casketbearers. Members of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Georgia Southern University will serve as honorary casketbearers.

Born April 23, 1984, in West Palm Beach, Fla., Mr. Brown was the son of Jean Patricia Lovell Brown and the Rev. Dion Lyle Brown. He was a student at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, and was majoring in construction management. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity while at Georgia Southern University.

He was a 2002 graduate of Pelham High School, playing for the Hornets football, baseball, basketball and track teams. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Jean Patricia Lovell Brown of Meigs; his father, the Rev. Dion Lyle Brown of Meigs; two brothers, Aaron Thomas Brown and Stephen Matthew Brown, both of Meigs; his grandparents, Jack and Donnis Brown of Tallahassee, Fla. and Ronald and Ilse Lovell of Palm Beach, Fla.; his aunts and uncles, Michael and Danielle Lovell of Boynton Beach, Fla., Christopher and Donna Lovell of Lake Worth, Fla., Scott and Danielle Simpson of Tallahassee, Fla. and Dain and Lisa Brown of Jacksonville, Fla. and Richard Ledson Jr. of Tallahassee; and seven cousins, Tres Ledson, Mackenzie Ledson, Kara Lovell, David Lovell, Sebastian Lovell, Walker Brown and Mason Brown.

DOERUN — Ellen Strickland Lawrence, 63, of Doerun died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Cobb Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Roland officiating.

Born Dec. 16, 1942, in Dade County, Fla., Mrs. Lawrence was the daughter of Ennis Yates Strickland Sparkman of Okeechobee, Fla. and the late John Martin Strickland. She was a secretary with the City of Okeechobee, Fla. and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Survivors include her husband, Charlie David Lawrence of Doerun; a son, Thomas Wilkerson of Colorado; a daughter, Ellen Marie Tyson of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Lertie Vivian Strickland of Okeechobee, Fla. and Cozette Sparkman Hall of Wachula, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Mary Gordon “Pat” Southerland

MOULTRIE — Mary Gordon “Pat” Southerland, 96, of Moultrie died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Cabaniss officiating. Interment will follow at Big Creek Cemetery in Thomas County. Her grandchildren, Len Duncan, Sandy Clayton, Angie Stillwell, Russ Southerland, Cassie Grubbs and Amy Anderson will serve as casketbearers.

Born March 4, 1909, in Marion County, Mrs. Southerland was the daughter of the late Robert Boyd Gordon and the late Martha Della McMickle Gordon. She was a homemaker and was a member of Kingwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Southerland; four brothers, Roscoe Gordon, Roy Gordon, Bill Gordon and Boyd Gordon; and two sisters, Theresa Jordan and Belle Simmons.

Survivors include a son, Bobby Jack Southerland and wife Faye of Coolidge; two daughters, Nell Duncan and husband Gene of Moultrie and Betty Stillwell of LaGrange; two brothers, Marvin Gordon and wife Ann of Thomaston and Bob Gordon of Florida; sisters, Irma Joiner of Cotton, Ga., Elise Prevatt of Seabring, Fla. and Margaret Weaver of Camilla, Ga.; six grandchildren, Len Duncan and wife Kelly of Atlanta, Sandy Clayton and husband Dewayne of Moultrie, Angie Stillwell of LaGrange, Russ Southerland and wife Lori of Rocky Face, Cassie Grubbs of Tallahassee, Fla. and Amy Anderson and husband Ian of Crestview, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
