Offer up your prayers

Dear editor:

A family recently moved to Colquitt County from Maryland and purchased two stores in Berlin. They located here due to having family in our area and also because they’ve been made welcomed during various visits over the last few years.

Raj Patel and Kiren Patel moved to our community with their two children, Mann, 6 (son) and Kamal, 5 (daughter), along with Raj’s mom Mathuben. They were looking forward to raising their family and planting roots here in Moultrie and Colquitt County. Everything was going fine and suddenly Kamal gets sick. After extensive medical tests locally and also in Macon, the Patel family is told that Kamal has cancer (leukemia).

This family has been torn between keeping their business going and rotating back and forth to Macon where Kamal is currently undergoing medical treatment. Raj’s mom Mathuben has been with Kamal in Macon during this ordeal.

With this said, if you happen to stop in one of the stores in Berlin, please extend your sympathy to Raj and Kiren and wish Kamal a speedy recovery. This will lighten their spirits a little and also let them know that they are in our thoughts and prayers during Kamal’s treatment and recovery.

The knowledge that so many care about this wonderful little girl Kamal, will mean more than words could ever express.

C.J. Sweat
