Rant and Rave for May 10

Police presence
“I, too, have been noticing that the police have a much greater showing on Quitman Highway. From someone who has had several close calls in the area of Sardis Church Road, I appreciate it very much. Keep it up."

Tired of it
“I’m tired of hearing what people in Europe pay for gas. You might also find that in England, they don’t pay for health care. You might also note that we spent a fortune in money and lives liberating a great portion of Europe from Nazi Germany. As well, we have secured other areas that benefit them."

Great idea
“Weight-lifting is a great idea for our athletes, provided you have certified trainers who know enough not to bulk up the swimmers with too many reps and not to give the cheerleaders thunder-thighs! Besides, where are the shower facilities and extra hour needed for the girls to get dressed for school?"

Applause
“Wow! No words can describe the wonderful spring concert of the CCHS Choirs. Thank you, Kathy Wright and Travis Kern for the guidance, training, polishing, and pure love you've provided our children. How blessed we are to experience the breath-takingly beautiful rendition of ‘When David Heard.’ And, you go 10th graders!"

Enjoyed it
“Mr. Walden, I enjoyed your column about the ‘stars’ and Mother’s Day. It was both humorous and your summation was well said. God bless our mothers!"

Proved himself
“Don't hate on Coach Dawson. His job is secure and he's more than proved himself over the years. Weight training for athletes is essential."

Bus drivers
“To the person complaining about the bus drivers driving for personal business go ahead take all the pictures you need because maybe if you see buses parked in a parking lot, maybe they are working. Bus drivers do more than drive. they also work with special needs kids in different business in our lovely community. So leave the bus drivers alone. I don't see you standing in line to fill out an application to drive the bus. Applause to the three drivers on the bus rodeo and all the other wonderful drivers!"

My suggestion
“Instead of following school buses around taking pictures, why don’t you volunteer your time at a nursing home or some other cause where you can produce a socially redeeming value. Or help beef up your Neighborhood Watch."
