Rants and Raves for May 13
Irony
“The article in Saturday's paper about the buses was hilarious. The article talked about how the fuel costs is killing our school system and at the same time there they were having a bus rodeo. Seems to me if the costs were killing them they could cut out a rodeo.
Bravo!
“Thursday night the Colquitt County High School choral program once again demonstrated that it is a quality program and that it is well supported by the kids, community and high school staff. We should be proud. Bravo!
Buses, fuel
“School buses: I drive a school bus and I handle personal business with mine. I am not doing anything wrong. If I am in the area, I go where I need to, (Walmart,etc.). I am not using any more gas than I do just dropping the students off! If you are going to go around taking pictures, good luck! You will be very busy. Seems like you have too much time on your hands. You talk about fuel but what about us driving 10 miles (1 way) out of the way to get 1 child? I suppose that is fine, right?
Not steroids
“If we were burning steroids in our vehicles, Congress would be holding special hearings about our national crisis. Steroids are a safe subject. They are not tied to the support that goes to our lawmakers.
The others
“The retirement reception given by the Board of Education on May 7th was very nice except that all the praise went to the teachers. The employees other than teachers would have liked thanks as well. Teachers work hard but so do the other employees. Their names, positions and years of service were announced but that was it. I just thought this was very tacky. Way to go bus drivers, custodians, food service workers. office staff and anyone else I may not have named. You did a great job. Congratulations on your retirement.
