Rants and Raves for May 16

Welfare

“My rant concerns people receiving government money for food. While shopping at a local store, I saw a lady with a buggy loaded with every kind of junk food you could imagine. It was evident that there was no meals prepared it the home. If our taxes are going to furnish food for the so-called needy, some rules should apply as to the choices so at least the children will receive nutritious meals.

Simple matter

“The school bus/personal use issue is really simple to settle: It is not a personal vehicle to be used for personal

purposes. Period.

Crime reports

“Why does our newspaper feel the need to publish every call the police and sheriff’s department goes on? It is embarrassing enough when there is a family disturbance and to have to call for help, but then to have it put in the newspaper for all to see only makes it worse.

This practice could actually deter people from calling when help is needed in situations in which they would prefer to be kept private.

Bravo

“Bravo .to whomever was singing the Star Spangle Banner at the Memorial service Thursday morning on the square. I was unable to attend,.but I could certainly here it from inside my office. I went outside to see where it was coming from .... absolutely beautiful!

Enough said
