Rants and Raves for July 25

I don't see it

“ Perhaps some are right, that we are in a mental recession. If you watch the news, you would think nobody is shopping and everyone is barely keeping their doors open. Yet, all the cities I go to, I see business booming. I have made a point to ask store and restaurant managers and owners if they are seeing any problems because of the economy. So far everyone has said they have been doing fine.

Not that bad

“To answer the ranters questions, no the last eight years have not been all that bad. Aside from gas prices, which the president has nothing to do with, things have been pretty good here. Nearly 3000 jobs have been created in Colquitt County during that time. We have seen lots of residential and commercial growth. Moultrie and Colquitt County was picked by UGA to be apart of a new and very sucessful Archway Program, and the community has won many awards. The minimum wage is going up and lots of good stuff going on.

Obama

“Whatever legislation Obama has been a part of must have not made much of an impact when a room full of Obama supporters couldn't name one thing he has done, yet they everyone could name something McCain did. That is a fact.

Coaches

“ How is it possible that the new footfall coach and others on his staff have no other duties than coaching? Does this mean they only get a supplement and not a full salary? Shouldn't they also have teaching responsibilities like everyone else?

McCains trophy

“ Perhaps McCain fans prefer the sterling legislative record of their champion. The McCain-Feingold Act was meant to vale-out the ‘special interests” and ‘big money influence’ from our elections, restoring them to a more democratic process. But when that high ideal was confronted by the real, McCain found it expedient to re-embrace his corporate sponsors.

McCain has spent a good deal of time in our nation’s corridors of power. He has a rich trophy wife and a record as a sometime placeholder in the Republican column on the issues. With Joe Lieberman whispering in his ear, how can you go wrong?
