Think it through, make our kids safe as they enjoy season

In just a few hours, our community’s kids will be celebrating Halloween as they attend numerous parties and go “trick or treating.” This is just a word of caution that should go without saying, but we’ll saying it anyway because it is about our kids — our most precious natural resources.

Please think through the activities that they will be participating in. If it’s going door to door for treats, take the standard precautions of making sure that an adult is close by, that their costumes are highly visible and that they know about the types of treats they should eat. Please examine their goodies before you allow them to dig in.

As well, caution them about respecting people’s property.

We applaud those various organizations that have structured special events for our kids. Keeping these youngsters within prescribed party parameters is certainly a tremendous safety factor.

And to the general public, pay close attention that our kids will be out on the street trick or treating and going to and from parties. Look out for them ... they are kids and they are excited so their judgements may be factor by these events.

Y’all be careful out there ... ya hear!
