Rants and Raves for November 6

I've seen it

“Yes indeed, much of the thefts going on here are to finance drug habits. I’ve seen it firsthand. My family has experienced it. But I’m like the earlier ranter. With all that’s being stolen, it has to be fenced somewhere and it must be immediate because a drug addict has to have his fix right away.

In response

“Mr. Leigh, you are right about treating symptoms instead of the disease when it comes to welfare and living off entitlements. Unfortunately, these habits have been cycling so long, it’s like trying to load a landslide onto a Tonka truck. Or turning a stampede by waving a handkerchief. We have a monster and it will take many generations to bring it under control even if we had the will power.

Road checks

“To address crime in Moultrie, let’s have have regular undercover roadside checks. The law-abiding citizens will appreciate that little inconvenience. Farmers used to do this when they looked through a barrel of apples to remove the bad ones.

No well spent

“I just drove down Cox Dairy Road and McGinty Road. They just scraped it yesterday and it’s actually worse today. That’s not money well spent.

A link

“There’s a certain apartment complex in Moultrie that is connected to much of the thefts and drug trade here. A little old-fashioned surveillance and patrols could hinder these going on.
