Laura Bell Lovett Prater
PAVO — Laura Bell Lovett Prater, 88, of Pavo, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Ga.
Funeral services will be at noon, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at Grant Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Marie Mosley officiating, with the Rev. Reatha G. Campbell and the Rev. Charlie Walton assisting. Burial will follow in the St. James Pallbearer #2 Cemetery. Charlie Walton, Darrell Phillips, Charlie Slaughter, Damecus Barge, Marcus Hunt, Elgin Slaughter, Jamario Peeks and Brandon Walton will serve as active pallbearers.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1920, in Pike County to the late Sim Lovett and the late Nora Chetham Lovett. She was a member of St. Matthews Overcoming Church of God Faith Temple under the leadership of the Rev. Annie K. Burgess. She also was Mother of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Knight Prater; her parents; one son, John Lovett; five brothers, John Lovett, Esaw Lovett, Frank Lovett, Simmie Lovett and Marvin Lovett; seven sisters, Mamie Coubertson, Lillian Thompson, Annie Burgess, Florence Bibbs, Louise Thomas, Jeanette Murry and Margie Slaughter; and one grandson, Dannie Hunt.
She is survived by one daughter, Pearlie Ann Hunt and husband Dannie of Pavo; six grandchildren, Christopher Lovett (Jacqulyn), Debra Prater Jesep (Darryl), Keith Hunt, Angela Hunt, Ronald Hunt (Carmel) and Lisa Hunt Walton (Charlie); 18 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at 2126 Thigpen Trail.
