If you live in Colquitt County and like sports, you are probably a Packer football fan. So am I. I have had tickets for 40 years. However, during the past seven years I have also become a Packer soccer fan.
If you want to see some superbly conditioned athletes perform, you need to come to Packer Park.
These young women and men play on a field about the size of a football field, and they never stop running. The action is fast and furious and continuous.
They play two 40 minute halves ( high school) and stop only for injuries and substitutions. Middle school and junior varsity teams play slightly shorter time periods.
You will be amazed what these athletes can do with their feet. I believe they are the best coordinated athletes I have seen.
If you have not been to Packer Park, you are depriving yourself of some exciting, athletic action. Please do not take my word for it. Come see for yourself.
You will enjoy it and the players will appreciate your support.
Then you can do as we often do. When soccer is finished we walk across the parking lot and watch Packer Baseball. These guys are good. GO ALL Packers!
TV commercials prompt serious thought
Sometimes I just wonder about stuff. It’s not necessarily moments of deep thought, just issues of curiosity that creep into the thought process when the fish aren’t biting or when my football team is so far behind that they have to buy tickets to stay on the field.

In an emergency, can rescue teams quickly find you?
For the most part, we haven’t had any severe winter weather here yet. And winter doesn’t officially start until Dec. 21.
But we can expect some cooler temperatures and they often bring some tragedies in the form of house fires.
A great community
A few weeks ago my family and friends had a fund drive for me. I would like to thank everyone that had a part in The Day For Duke. Words can’t describe how I felt that day and still do!

One might find great resolve in Mandela’s life
There’s a scripture in the Bible that says “A soft answer turneth away wrath.”
Whenever we think of Nelson Mandela, that verse should come to mind. Many would say he epitomizes that notion even though in his younger days he might have exuded much more spit and vinegar in pursuing a cause.
