Colquitt drops region games to Valdosta

Valdosta took the lead on a 3-pointer by Alexis Brown that broke a 9-9 tie with 5:18 left in the first half and never trailed again.

A free throw by Alisha Crawford put the Lady Wildcats up 40-33 with 31 seconds left.

Colquitt County’s Bria Wallace had a free throw and Nicolle Thomas added a basket and a 3-pointer in the waning seconds, but they were not enough.

Crawford led Valdosta with 10 points. Kendra Patrick added nine as the Valdosta girls even their region record at 1-1 and raise their overall record to 6-4.

The Lady Wildcats will face Warner Robins, 2-1 in the region on Friday.

Thomas had 14 to lead the Lady Packers. Umeika Henry added 10, Wallace and Ashley Patillo each had six, Persephone Taylor had two and Shay Lovett added a free throw.

The Colquitt County girls fall to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the region and will meet Bainbridge at home on Friday. Colquitt County will travel to Houston County on Saturday.
