MOULTRIE — Clarke Hendrick shot a 72 and John Fordham a 73 to lead the Colquitt County golf team to a seventh-place finish in the Demon Invitational golf tournament held Saturday in Warner Robins.
The Packers also received an 84 from Billy Edwards and an 88 from David Brown in his first varsity competition to shoot a 317.
“We didn’t play bad at all,” said Colquitt County Coach Donald Dale, who was especially pleased with the 40 shot on the back nine by Brown.
Lowndes finished first in the tournament with a 291 that included scores of 70, 72 and 73 from three freshmen.
Thomas County Central was second with a 296, followed by Warner Robins with a 298 and West Laurens and Burke County, each with a 304.
North Hall was sixth with a 310.
Also from Region 1-AAAAA, Tift County had a 322; Houston a 326; Coffee had a 328; and Valdosta a 340.
The Colquitt County golfers will play host to the Packer Invitational at Sunset Country Club next Saturday.
