Special Olympians to hold horse show



MOULTRIE — Colquitt County Special Olympics will hold a equestrian show beginning at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the Hancock Arena on Georgia Highway 319 North.

Following the opening ceremonies, the Beginner 1 Trail event will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Competing in Class 1 will be Ty’Meatrious Hightower, Chuck Block and Kaitlyn Deas. In Class 2 will be Brianna Summerlin and Jonteria Mathis. In Class 3 will be Jessica Harris and Raul Dianas.

Beginner 1A Trail will begin at 11 a.m. Rebecca Hampton and Katherine Walker will compete in Class 1.

The Beginner 2 Trail Class 1, which will begin at 11:15 a.m., will include Josh Torbert, Eric Palmore and Steven Pitts.

The Intermediate 1 Trail event will begin at 11:45 a.m. In Class 1 will be James Moxley and James Palmore.

In Class 2 will be Justin Law and Deon Grant.

At 12:30 p.m., the student volunteers will compete.

In intermediate will be Emily Goff, Ashlee Parrish and Meagan Smith.

In advanced will be Mandy Davidson, Kirsten Holten and Lauryn Taylor.

The freestyle drill team, a new event, will begin at 1 p.m. with athletes and partners showing to music.

Athlete Deon Grant and student volunteer Meagan Smith will take part.

The presentation of awards will take place at 1:30 p.m.

Show coordinator Karen Cole said 24 Special Olympic athletes and partners will compete.
