MOULTRIE — The annual Moose Moss Invitational diving meet will be held on Saturday at the Moose Moss Aquatic Center as divers begin the competitive summer season.
The meet will be a one-day event this year, with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
Moss Farms Diving coach Ed Goodman said that divers from five teams will compete.
Coach Barb Parker will bring several of her Port City Diving team members from Theodore, Ala.
The Atlanta Diving Association will bring its team to Moultrie.
Goodman said Patrick Jeffrey will bring a number of his Tomahawk Diving Club members from Tallahassee. A group of divers from Athens also will be in town on Saturday to compete.
“It will be a small meet,” Goodman said.
Moss Farms will have 15 divers taking part.
Those who will represent Moss Farms on Saturday will be Elizabeth Ann Kirkland, Bethia Dawson, Anastasia Jimenez, Ann Perry Blank, Henry Norman, Tristan Wells, Kelsey Goodman, Haley Goodman, Victoria Barber, Parker Hardigree, Josie Parker, Ailee Schofill, Sydney Wheeler, Abbi White and Savannah Dean.
The meet will be the first of the season for the Moss Farms divers as they work toward securing a spot in the Summer Junior National Diving Championships, which will be held at the Moose Moss Aquatics Center on Aug. 1-8.
It will mark the first time since 2004 that Colquitt County has played host to the Junior Nationals.
To reach Junior Nationals, divers must advance through Regionals, which will be held June 18-21 in Orlando, and the Zone meet, which will be held July 8-12 in Knoxville, Tenn.
