Shotgun team fares well 4-H competition



MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County 4-H shooting team and Bridge Creek Clays played host to the 4-H district shotgun shooting match recently.

The match qualified junior and senior 4-H’ers to attend this year’s state 4-H championship, which will be held at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton.

The match drew quite a turnout, with 88 youngsters participating from surrounding counties.

The junior team champion was from Cook County.

The second-place team was from Mitchell County.

Colquitt County finished third.

Mitchell County won the senior team championship.

Colquitt County was second and was followed by Lee County.

Colquitt County’s Landon Bass won the junior individual championship.

Second place went to Mitchell County’s Daniel Hayes.

Placing third was to Dylan Hanks, also of Mitchell County.

The senior individual champion was Hunter Hancock of Mitchell County.

Spencer Ensley of Cook County was second.

A.J. Adcock of Lee County was third in the senior competition.

The Colquitt County 4-H is planning to to play host to an all-day shooting qualifying next season.
