Mobley Plant keeps first place in sight



MOULTRIE — Mobley Plant remains just percentage points out of first place in the Midget League following its 7-5 victory over Market Barbecue on Monday at the Magnolia Complex.

Mobley Plant improves to 10-1-2, a winning percentage of .769. Harper-McCall remains in first place with a 10-1-1 record and a .833 winning percentage.

Harper-McCall has two games remaining, including one Tuesday night against Southwest Georgia Bank and another on Thursday against Southwest Georgia Insurance.

Mobley Plant’s final game of the season is on Friday against Ameris.

On Monday, Mobley Plant rode the bat and arm of Preston Berry to the win over Market Barbecue.

Berry had three hits and was the winning pitcher. Justin Wilkerson had two hits for Mobley Plant.

In Monday’s other Midget League game, Davis Insurance pounded Southwest Georgia Insurance 12-2.

Wade Hawes, Sam Smith and Adam Webb each had two hits for Davis Insurance.

In Pony League action on Monday, Quality Employment remains unbeaten with two games to play after its 17-5 victory over Southwest Georgia Bank.

Matt Creech had another big night for 13-0 Quality Employment, getting the win on the mound and going 4-for-4 with a home run at the plate.

Vann Pitts had three hits and Landon Rehberg and Britt Jones each had two for Quality Employment. Tyler Yost and three and Austin Vines had two for Southwest Georgia Bank.

Alex Littleton had three hits and Tyroni Walker smacked a home run to lead Ameris to a 14-4 win over Edwards Motors in Monday’s other Pony League game.

Andrew Eunice was the winning pitcher and Walker, Matt Gerald and Blake Seagers each had two hits for Ameris. Garrett Pearce had two hits for Edwards Motors.

In Monday’s Farm League play, Random Design edged Rocky’s 6-5.

Griffin Simmons, Demetrius Walker and Javon Parten each hd three hits and Austin McCord nad Colby Camp each had two for Random Design.
