Local shooters dominate Junior Olympics
Taking the silver medal was the threesome of Jerry Ramsey, Sam Smith and Braxton Jones.
Zach Connell, Grant Bell and Hunter Hancock combined to finish third.
A number of those who competed will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., later this month for the National Junior Olympics competition.
The competition was held at the Bridge Creek Shooting Range’s Olympic-style facility at 3760 Dunn Road in Hartsfield.
Simpson said the local club will play host to the event next year. By then, the range is expected to have an additional bunker and a clubhouse, currently under construction, should be completed.
Most of the materials and work on the clubhouse has been donated, Simpson said.
Among those companies that have contributed are JCI, Tyson Steel, Scruggs Concrete and Flint River Timber.
Simpson said the club continues to produce trap shooters who are among the best in the country.
