10-and-unders place third

Staff Reports

MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County Crush 10-and-under all-stars finished third in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association state tournament in Waycross, Ga. on Saturday.

After being defeated by Wayne County in its opening game, the team had rallied on Friday to win three straight losers bracket games against Ware County, Walton County and Lyons.

It took double overtime to defeat Lyons 13-8 with Colquitt County scoring six runs in the eighth inning.

It faced Cedartown next at 10 a.m., Saturday, on its bid for the title game.

The Crush was eliminated in a six inning game 5-0 in the machine-pitch tournament.

Kerry Owens, Amber Kling, Christin Hunnicutt, and Christy Crosby were the only Crush players to get hits during the game. One single was made in the first, three were made in the fourth, and one in the fifth.
