County players claim seven state titles



MOULTRIE — Colquitt County players won seven division in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association’s state tennis tourament held Friday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex courts.

Players from Mitchell County, Ware County, Wayne County and Jeff Davis County also competed.

Courtney Terrell won the 12-and-under girls singles title, beating Anna Barber in an all-Colquitt County final 6-2, 6-3.

Terrell had advanced to the final with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Courtney Anderson of Ware County.

Barber won her semifinal match over Molly Smith, also of Ware County, 6-2, 6-0.

Andrew Harvin won the 14-and-under boys singles championship in another all-Colquitt county final, defeating Coby King 6-1, 6-0.

Harvin won his semifinal match over Brantley Stone of Jeff Davis County, 6-0, 6-0. King advanced to the final with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Jacob Highsmith of Ware County 6-0, 6-3.

In a third all-Colquitt County final, Constance Terrell won the 16-and-under girls title with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jana Harvin.

Terrell defeated Anna Fulford of Ware County 6-0, 6-3 in her semifinal match.

Harvin won over Wayne County’s Lana Reddish 6-4, 6-1.

In 12-and-under girls doubles, Courtney Terrell and Anna Barber defeated Ware County’s Whitney Steedley and Courtney Anderson 6-1, 6-2 in the final.

Terrell and Barber defeated Ware County’s Molly Smith and Sara Brittin Turner 6-4, 6-3 in their semifinal match.

Andrew Harvin and Coby King won the 14-and-under boys doubles championship by defeating Mitchell County’s Cody Carden and Cameron Carney 6-0, 6-0 in the finals.

Harvin and King defeated Jacob Highsmith and Kane Thrift of Ware County 6-1, 6-0 in one semifinal.

Carden and Carney defeated Branley Stone and Levi Fortner of Jeff Davis 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
