Published July 22, 2008 10:57 pm - MOULTRIE — Austin Dorminey and Ashlee Paramore tuned up for next weekend’s state swim meet by turning in 25 points each for the Moultrie Sharks Swim Team on Saturday in Thomasville.
Jared Hanna took the gold medal in the 50-yard breaststroke as the Sharks finished tied for ninth with the Valdosta YMCA Piranha Swim Team in the 11-team Thomasville Riptide/ATAC Swim Meet.


Dorminey, Paramore pace Sharks



MOULTRIE — Austin Dorminey and Ashlee Paramore tuned up for next weekend’s state swim meet by turning in 25 points each for the Moultrie Sharks Swim Team on Saturday in Thomasville.

Jared Hanna took the gold medal in the 50-yard breaststroke as the Sharks finished tied for ninth with the Valdosta YMCA Piranha Swim Team in the 11-team Thomasville Riptide/ATAC Swim Meet.

The Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC) was first in the meet with 1,047.5 points. The Tiftarea YMCA Tidal Wave was second with 583 points.

The Sharks and the Valdosta YMCA each had 100 points.

Dorminey, swimming in the boys 15-18 age group, finished fourth in his age group.

He finished third in the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly; was fifth in the 100-yard freestyle; and sixth in the 100-yard individual medley.

Paramore’s 25 points also placed her fourth in the 15-18 girls age group.

She had third-place finishes in the 100 free and 50 free; a fourth-place finish in the 50 breaststroke; and fifth-place in the 100 IM and te 50 back.

Hanna had 18 points for the Sharks and finished tied for sixth in the 15-18 boys age group.

His 32.01 was good for first place in the 50-yard breaststroke.

Hanna also was fifth in the 100 IM; sixth in the 50 free; and seventh in the 50 fly.

Austin Vines had fine meet, scoring in each of his five events and totaling 15 points, good for eighth place.

Vines, swimming in the 13-14 boys division, was second in the 50 back; fifth in the 100 IM; seventh in the 100 free; and eighth in the 50 free and 50 fly.

Like, Dorminey, Paramore and Vines, Connor Walsh scored in five events. His 13 points were good for eighth in the 15-18 boys age group.

Walsh had fifth-place finishes in the 50 free and 50 back; was seventh in the 100 IM and 50 back; and was eighth in the 50 fly.
