Middle school softball opens Thursday



MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County middle school softball team will open its 2008 season on Thursday with a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Hahira.

The middle school Lady Packers also will play at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bainbridge before playing its home openers on Thursday, Sept. 4, against Valdosta.

It will be the first of just two home dates for the middle school girls, who will play their home games at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.

The other home doubleheader will be Thursday, Sept. 11, against Coffee.

Colquitt will close out the season with doubleheaders at Tift County on Thursday, Sept. 18, and at Lowndes on Sept. 25.

The roster includes 13 eighth-graders, six seventh-graders and two two-sixth graders.

The eighth-graders are Kayla Bynum, Ashleigh Childs, Mikayli Crawford, Amie Frazier, Ansleigh Lindsey, Savannah Morgan, Antoinette Myers, Cheyenne Reynolds, Shameka Reynolds, Tremyia Robinson, Maria Schwarz, Hannah Sprayberry and Maiya Thompson.

The seventh-graders are Ainsley Davis, Taylor Owens, Abbi Beth Paulk, Shelby Rakestraw, Kasie Ricks and Cheyenne Sumner.

Diana Durham and Cheyenne Tillman are the lone sixth-graders.

Former Lady Packer Kelli Moser is in her first season as head coach. She will be assisted by her father Lynn Moser.
