MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County ninth-grade football team could muster little offense on Saturday morning at Tom White Field at Mack Tharpe Stadium and fell to Valdosta 22-6.
The Packers managed only a 1-yard touchdown run by Quan Jones with 6:56 left in the second quarter.
The score was set up by a 28-yard pass from Alex Littleton to Travious Cooper to the Wildcats 1.
The Jones touchdown tied the game at 6-6.
Valdosta scored on the opening possession of the game, driving 48 yards and scoring on a 29-yard touchdown pass.
Valdosta took the lead for good on a 14-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the first half.
A 2-point conversion run gave the Wildcats a 14-6 halftime lead.
Valdosta scored its final touchdown on a 1-yard run with 31 seconds left in the third quarter.
The Packers intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles, all in the second half, but could not cash the turnovers into points.
Trey Scott had the interception.
Littleton completed 6-of-20 passes for 42 yards. He was intercepted twice.
Devin Hadley led the Packers on the ground, gaining 34 yards on six carries. Jones had 24 yards on six carries.
The ninth-graders will travel to Lowndes next Thursday.
