Wild Hawgs finish first, second
MOULTRIE — Moultrie’s Wild Hawgs, a 10-and-under travel baseball team, played in two recent tournaments, winning one and placing second in the other.
In a round-robin shootout tournament in Adel on Sept. 27, the Wild Hawgs won four games.
Moultrie defeated the Thomasville Thunder twice, 8-7 and 16-4.
The Wild Hawgs also defeated the Adel Stings 13-0 and 14-7.
Moultrie scored 51 runs and banged out 78 hits in the tournament. Logan Wheeler led the Wild Hawgs in the tournament with two home runs and five other hits.
Buck Blalock and Noah Moore each had 11 hits and Wheeler Hunnicutt had 10.
Austin Singletary added nine hits, Clayton Brooks had eight, Chason Fannin had seven, Ethan Phillips had six, Kevin Snyder had five and Tucker Buckner had four.
Last Saturday, the Moultrie team played in the Peach State Diamond Sports tourament in Leesburg and was the runner-up to the Hazlehurst Storm.
Moultrie fell to Hazlehurst in the championship game by two runs.
The Wild Hawgs scored 39 runs and had 67 hits. Wheeler Hunnicutt had 10 hits in the tournament.
Snyder had nine hits, Blalock added eight, and Kodi Bishop and Logan Wheeler each had seven hits.
The Wild Hawgs will play in a tournament on Saturday and Sunday.
The team is coached by Don Price, John Robertson, Brad Wheeler, Plenn Hunnicutt and James Hurst.
