MOULTRIE — The Colquitt County High swimming team opened its season in a rare outdoor meet and finished fourth among the nine teams in the Blue Devil Invitational on Saturday at the Tiftarea YMCA.

Bainbridge finished first with 242 points and was followed by Northside-Warner Robins with 202, Tift County with 153 and Colquitt County with 114.

Baldwin finished fifth with 96 points.

The Colquitt County girls were third with 93 points, finishing behind Bainbridge and Northside. Tift County was fourth.

“We survived the temperature challenges and came away with some great performances,” said Colquitt County coach Pierre Rogers.

Caroline Rogers had Colquitt County’s top performance, turning in a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:20.10. Rogers also was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a finals time of 6:43.60. She also had the second-most points earned by a female swimmer in the meet.

Kara Dobbs also brought a gold medal back to Moultrie, taking first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 30.05.

She also placed third in the 100-yard freestyle.

Amy Peek had a pair of top-5 finishes, placing third in the 200-yard individual medley and fifth in the 500-yard freestyle.

Jessica Price was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Samantha Price was fifth in the 100-yard individual medley and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Among the top finishes by the boys team was a fourth-place finish by Connor Walsh in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Colquitt County 200-yard medley relay team of Andrew Carlton, Chris Phillips, Connor Walsh and Andrew Green was fifth.
