Moultrie Healthcare, Adams and Adams win openers

MOULTRIE — Moultrie Healthcare and Adams and Adams won their Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department Junior League softball openers on Monday at the Jim Buck Goff Recreation Complex.

Moultrie Healthcare defeated Fuller’s 10-2 with Jordan Payne and Imani Hall each scoring two runs.

Adams and Adams won over Bull Durham Insurance 9-4. Bailey Carter scored three runs and Orion Wilson scored two for Adams and Adams.

Harrell Electric won its Mite League opener 16-1 over Park Regency. Abeny Thomas, Kelsey Patel, Laura Jean Oliver, Dontayshia Wilson, Hannah Craven and Jade Johnson each scored twice for Harrell.

Alaina Taylor, Jami Kling and Julia Warnock each scored three runs to lead Morris Orthodontics to a 17-6 victory over Dairy Queen. Chloe Gould, ZyKeria Brown and Josie Parker each scored twice for Morris.

In Tiny Mites openers, Little Debbie won over Wonderland 11-3.

Kalise Richrdson, Reagan Young, Kylie Davis and Jennifer Mauricio each scored two runs for Little Debbie.

Gracie Paulk, Emily Allegood, Katelynn Powers and Jaycee Wetherington each scored two runs in Rocky’s 12-0 vicory over Little Caesar’s Pizza.

  • Rain postpones soccer; Lady Packer still on

    Today's Region 1-AAAAAA soccer match between Colquitt County and Coffee in Douglas has been postponed and will be played next Wednesday, April 23.

    Also, Saturday morning's girls soccer match against Worth County at Packer Park has been called off.

    The varsity soccer matches scheduled for next Tuesday at Worth County have been canceled to allowed the teams to be well-rested for the important region matches the next day.

    The Lady Packer Invitational golf tournament scheduled for Saturday is still on. Teams will begin teeing off at 12:30 p.m.

  • JV Packers split with Lowndes, finish 18-9

    The Colquitt County junior varsity baseball team split a season-ending doubleheader with Lowndes on Thursday at Ike Aultman Field to finish its season with an 18-9 record.

    Callon Kubiak pitched a no-hitter to lead Hutchinson-Traylor to a 4-0 Midget League victory over Mobley Plant on Thursday at the Magnolia Sports Complex.

    The Colquitt County boys tennis team will travel to Sharpsburg on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. first-round Class AAAAAA match against Region 3 champion East Coweta.

    Colquitt County’s Ross Goforth was obviously pleased with his first appearance on the mound this season when he retired Lee County in order in the sixth inning of the Packers 7-5 victory over the Trojans on Wednesday. The Packers will travel to Snellville to meet Brookwood at 1 p.m. Saturday.

    Colquitt County football fans who were looking forward to making the trip to Atlanta to see the Packers play in the Corky Kell Classic on Aug. 23 can still make the trip north, but will have to head to a different stadium.
