VFW wins Junior softball opener

MOULTRIE — VFW won its Moultrie-Colquitt County Parks and Recreation Department Junior girls softball opener on Tuesday, defeating Fuller’s 11-1.

Lauren Beck, Morgan Fedd and Savannah Boozer each scored two runs for VFW.

In Mite League play on Tuesday, Park Regency bounced back from a season-opening loss to defeat M&M Diesel 12-2.

Karleigh Walden, Brooke Durrence, Karli Ellis and Kelsey Mock each scored twice for Park Regency.

Little Debbie raised its Tiny Mite record to 2-0 with a 15-12 victory over Barfield Realty.

Jada Horne, Reagan Young, Kylie Davis, Lizette Nunez, Kenna Johnson and Kalise Richardson each scored twice for Little Debbie.

Allie Boatwright scored three times an Maggie Parker, Claire Whitfield and Jessica Lamb each scored twice for Barfield Realty.

    The Colquitt County High boys basketball team was honored at its annual banquet on Thursday at the high school cafeteria. Among those honored were the Packers three All-Region 1-AAAAAA selections. They are, from left, Shaheem Ponder, Sebastian Courtney and Xavier Terry. Ponder and Courtney will return to the Packers lineup next season. Terry is a senior.
