The Colquitt County basketball teams will open the Region 1-AAAAAA part of their schedules by meeting the league’s two newest members the next two days.
Camden County will visit the William Bryant Court at the Gladys Espy Gymnasium for a pair of varsity games beginning at 6 tonight.
The Packers and Lady Packers will travel to the coast on Saturday to play at Brunswick, with the games again starting at 6 p.m.
The Colquitt County girls will take an 8-1 record and an eight-game winning streak into the game with the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Packers lost their season-opener FAMU 54-49, but have not lost since.
Among the Lady Packers eight victories is a 62-42 rematch win over FAMU in their first game in the Colquitt Regional Medical Center Shoot-out last week.
The Lady Packers also took down Pelham and Rickards in the event.
The Colquitt County girls are led by junior Makeba Ponder, who is averaging 20.3 points a game.
Ponder is expected to be in the starting lineup with Ashley Henry, Ja’nice Sailor, Shakhila Harry and Natalie Griffin.
Henry was named to the Shoot-out’s all-tournament team.
The Colquitt County boys will take a 2-5 record into their meeting with the Wildcats tonight.
The Packers lost all three of their games in the last week’s Shoot-out.
Colquitt’s leading scorer is senior Kamoris Woods.
The 5-5 Wildcats defeated Charlton County 78-73 at home last Saturday to end a three-game losing streak.
Camden is led by junior Sam Daniel, who is averaging 27.1 points a game and has scored 30 or more points four times this season.
