MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County Correctional Institution inmate was transferred Thursday morning to a high-security prison after he was captured in the Statesboro area earlier in the day.

Christopher Burnette, 26, was taken into custody at about 10:15 a.m. in Twin City by the U.S. Marshals Service. The woman was arrested Wednesday night.

Burnette ran from her apartment Wednesday night and law enforcement cordoned off the area, but he was not captured until about 12 hours later, prison Warden Billy Howell said.

Burnette faces escape charges and will not return to the prison in Colquitt County.
