MOULTRIE — Alpha Squires “Blondie” Shingler, 95, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Graveside rites will be 3:30 p.m., today, Aug. 26, at Westview Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Voyles officiating.

Born Sept. 15, 1912, in Worth County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Enoch Grayer Squires and Blanch Jones Squires. She was a homemaker and a member of East Side Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Heyward Shingler; four brothers, Andrew Squires, Oras Squires, Cecil Squires and Erman Squires; and three sisters, Alma Bell, Mary Tomcanny and Leona Hurst.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Duke and husband Edward of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two brothers, E.G. Squires Jr. of Moultrie and Hayden Squires of Quitman; two grandchildren, Karen Blakenship and John Duke; two great-grandchildren, Shana Luckey and Kori Luckey; and two great-great-grandchildren, Lil Shane Luckey and Hannah Luckey.

Memorial contributions may be made to East Side Baptist Church.

Cobb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
