On October 20, 2009 Carolyn passed away at the age of 90 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Moultrie, Ga.

Carolyn was born February 13, 1919 in Calera, AL to Hattie and Robert Echols. She was a member of Perry Hill United Methodist Church, Montgomery, AL and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who loved to sew and knit gifts for her family and friends. She was an avid gardener, who cut her own grass until she was 80.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Lowry, Jr., her sister, Marietta Parker, and brothers, Bob Echols and Howard Echols.

She is survived by her children, Jim (Diane) Lowry of Moultrie, GA and Faye (John) Martin of Chattanooga, TN—five grandchildren—Carol (Eric) Blankenship, Ringgold, GA, John (Karen) Martin, Brunswick, GA, Nicole Gilbert, Moultrie, GA, Michael (Kellye) Martin, Ringgold, GA, and Paul Lowry, Tampa, FL; her sisters, Mary Keith, Hogansville, GA, Sara (Jay) Rawlinson, Montgomery, AL, and brother Tom (Priscilla) Echols, Atlanta, GA; and eight great grandchildren, Tatum Compton, Caleb Compton, Morgan Gilbert, Courtney Gilbert, Grant Martin, Reid Martin, John Martin IV, and Josie Kate Martin.

A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on October 22nd in Loachapoka, AL where she will be buried next to her beloved husband, Clarence Lowry.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Children’s Fund of Colquitt Regional Medical Foundation, Post Office Box 40, Moultrie, GA.
