NORMAN PARK — Charlie David Brinson Jr., 81, of Norman Park died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at Simmon Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Robinson officiating, with the Rev. E.H. Hopkins, the Rev. Lester Burks and the Rev. Arletha Miller assisting. Burial will follow in the Strong Memorial Gardens. Torrance Lawrence, Stephen Johnson, Garfield Craig, Yohann Brinson, Walter Neloms and Charlie Williford will serve as active pallbearers.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1926, in Omega, Ga. to the late Charlie David Brinson Sr. and the late Mary Smith Brinson. He worked for Ken Isaac and Sam Duggan Chevrolet for many years as an automobile detailer and he was the owner and operator of his own lawn care service. He was a member and a deacon at Simmon Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Bobby Robinson. He also served in the United States Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Kathryn B. Byrd and Rosa Brinson.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fannie Harris Brinson of Norman Park; four sons, Reuben Brinson and wife Janice, Charles Brinson and wife Wylene both of Moultrie, Jerry Brinson and wife Betty of Thomasville, and Tyrone Brinson of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Veronica Williams and husband Joe of Moultrie, and Alicia Twiggs of Norman Park; one sister, Beatrice Jackson of Norman Park; fours brothers, Robert Brinson and wife Ruth, Clifford Brinson and wife Johnnie both of Columbus, Ga., Willie C. Brinson and wife Alma of Dayton, Ohio and Frank Brinson of Tifton, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Rufus Harris and wife Louetta of Norman Park and Alonza Harris of Moultrie; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends at 4720 Highway 319 North in Norman Park.

Visitation will be today, Aug. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Luke Strong and Son Mortuary Chapel.
