MOULTRIE — Hattie Mae Bradford Whatley, 75, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Heritage Healthcare of Moultrie.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at First African Baptist Church in Doerun with the Rev. Willie Love officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Crosland, Ga. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

She was born March 20, 1934, in Crosland, the daughter of the late Elbert Bradford and the late Beatrice Daniels Bradford. She was employed as a cook at Carter’s Fried Chicken for more than 15 years. She was also a member of Morning Grove Baptist Church in Norman Park.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Peter Gary Bradford; and a brother, James A. Harmon.

Survivors include her husband, Pearl Whatley of Moultrie; a son, Robert Thomas of Newark, N.J.; two daughters, Annie Robertson of Atlanta, Ga., and Betty Joyce Bradford of Valdosta, Ga.; a brother, John Daniels and wife Ruth of Doerun; two sisters, Lois Parson and husband Jake of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Jessie Sumlin and husband Willie James of Doerun; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 1308 Bayleaf Drive.
