MOULTRIE — Ivery Joe Spencer, 54, of Moultrie, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Mother Easter Baptist Church with the Rev. E. H. Hopkins officiating and the Rev. Kiley A. Johnson assisting. Burial will follow in the Strong Memorial Garden. Seller Edwards Sr., David Spencer III, Alex Williams, Freddie Johnson and Willie Wallace will serve as active pallbearers.

He was born on Dec. 17, 1954, in Moultrie, to the late David Spencer and Lorene Corker Spencer. He was employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base for five years as a material handler. He also served in the United States Army. He was a member of Mother Easter Baptist Church under the past leadership of the Rev. E. H. Hopkins and present leadership of the Rev. Freddie Castle.

He was preceded in death by his father; one son, Marques Thornton; one sister, Marjorie Revill; and one brother, Tommy Spencer.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Spencer of Albany, Ga.; his mother, Lorene Spencer of Moultrie; three sons, Xavier Johnson and Corey Flournoy, both of Moultrie, and Dexter Snelling of Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Felicia L. Sesler (Julius) of Moultrie and Patrice Spencer of Conyers, Ga.; three brothers, David Spencer Sr. (Mary) and Paul W. Spencer (Sharon), both of Moultrie, and Clarence E. Spencer of Junction City, Kan.; one sister, Dorothy Pace (Willie) of Moultrie; three nieces, Jasmine Williams, Wykesa Williams and Patrice Williams; three nephews, Jaylen Wallace, Darius Wallace and Shawnquevious Wallace; a special nephew, David Spencer III of Warner Robins, Ga.; father-in-law, Zertie B. White of Leesburg, Ga.; father-in-law, Willie Wright and mother-in-law Clara Wallace, both of Albany, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Willie Wallace of Albany, Ga.; five sisters-in-law, Tina Roberts of New York and Janice Wallace, Jackie Sanders (Eric), Celler Grant (Eugene) and Elvina Anderson (John), all of Albany, Ga.; four close friends, Jackie Mathews, Dr. Donny D. Green Sr., William J. Broughton, Kermit Brook and Randy Bishop, all of Albany, Ga.; and friends and co-workers at the Marine Corps Logistic Base.

The family will receive friends at 1726 Dean Lane, the residence of Paul W. and Sharon Spencer, and 800 South St. in Albany, Ga., the home of Joanne Spencer.
