Band students at Williams Middle School finished the year with a concert at Withers Auditorium. Sixth and seventh grades were featured separately.
The Sixth Grade Band performed three selections: “Westwind Celebration” by Russ Haag, “Rhythm X” by David Shaffer and “Rockn’ Along” also composed by Russ Haag.
Seventh Grade Band performed six selections: “Character” by Larry Clark, “Ancient Spirits” by Michael Story, “River’s Bend March” by Bruce Pearson, “Trumpets to the Rescue” by Mike Hannikel, “Stand by Me” arranged by Michael Sweeney, and ended the evening of music with the School’s Spirit “Packer Fight Song” arranged by John Higgins.
The Seventh Grade took their concert repertoire on tour in May and gave a concert at the Georgia Academy for the Blind in Macon. The band students continued to Atlanta to visit the World of Coke followed by an evening at Stars and Strikes Family Entertainment Center. Saturday, May 11, was a full day at Six Flags Over Georgia.
The Seventh Grade Band finished their year with a “Tour of Schools” event, May 20. The band performed for the students at Cox Elementary, Odom Elementary and Sunset Elementary schools.
The bands’ director is Sheri N. Wyles, who offered thanks to Principal Doug Howell, Transportation Director Christine Pate, teacher Alisha Montgomery and the parents who accompanied the band on its trips.
