HAHIRA, Ga. — Zach Anderson Wincey, 96, of Hahira, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., today, March 2, in Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jon McCranie and Danny Moree officiating. Burial will follow in Buck Creek Cemetery with James Sutton, Greg Keigans, Jason Sutton, Chase Keigans, Ricky Hembree and Jeremy Sutton serving as pallbearers.

Born Oct. 6, 1913, in Thomas County, he was the son of the late George Franklin Wincey and Berta Greene Wincey. He was a retired diesel mechanic and a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a petty officer during World War II.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret McCowen, Mamie Louise Wincey and Mary Mildred Terrell; a step-son, Michael Johnson; and a son-in-law, John McNeely.

Survivors include his wife, Margie T. Wincey of Hahira, Ga.; sons, Billy Wincey and Dewey Wincey, both of Apoka, Fla. and Gary Wincey and wife Rosaland of Zellwood, Fla.; daughters, Judy McNeely of Meritt Island, Fla., Ann Rodgers and husband Kenneth of Niceville, Fla. and Sue Allison Wincey of Hahira, Ga.; a brother, Kirby Wincey of The Village’s, Ocala, Fla.; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and step-children, Vickie Cox and husband George of New Port, N.C., Alice Ellis of Eustis, Fla., Jill Wright and husband Earl of Sorrento, Fla., Margie Ann Sewell and husband Robert of Rentz, Ga. and Bill Johnson and wife Brenda of Eustis, Fla.
