MOULTRIE — Colquitt County’s Andrew Harvin and Nick Nichols participated in the Green Island Junior Summer Championships on Aug. 13-5 at Green Island Country Club in Columbus.
It was the first tournament playing boys 18s for Harvin and the first tournament playing in boys 16 for Nichols.
They both played up in a higher age group.
Harvin won the Boys 18 Championship.
On Saturday, he defeated Michael B. Deloach of Columbus,6-1, 6-0 and after about an hour rain delay, he went on to defeat James Smith of Fortson, 6-1, 6-2.
On Sunday, Harvin defeated Benjamin J. Shiver of Phenix City, Ala., 6-3, 6-0 to win the championship.
On Saturday, Nichols lost his first round match to Brett McLemore of Fortson, 1-6, 0-6 and then won a consolation round match over Ty Ammons of Fortson, 6-1, 6-3.
On Sunday, he lost his match to Kyler Hancock of Columbus, 3-6, 6-3, 6-7.
Harvin and Nichols will join other players from Moultrie this weekend to play in the Junior Mayhem tournament in Valdosta.
