George Zeanah and Gage Kent led the Colquitt County middle school wrestling team with first-place finishes in the Blue Devil Invitational held Saturday.
“Our wrestlers competed extremely well, with this being the first tournament for most of the wrestlers,” said coach Greg Yarbrough.
Zeanah pinned all of his opponents in one of his best career showings to win the 114-pound weight division. Kent battled hard and won the 135-pound division.
Also for the middle school Packers, Riley Harp placed second in the 65-pound class, Saul Antonio was second in the 107-pound class and Shelby Burnette was the second in the 145-pound class.
Taking third-place finishes were Griffin Simmons at 135 pounds, Chris Dixon at 145 and Quan Williams at 107.
Finishing fourth were Coy Kirkland at 155, Jacob Garza at 205 and Jacob Miller at 79.
Fifth-place finishes went to Joshua Young at 138, Nicholas Schneider at 170 and John Lewis at 93.
“We look for many more outstanding performances from these young men as they mature and develop their skill sets,” Yarbrough said. “We have a very young team that is really working hard.”
The middle school wrestlers will travel to Cairo on Thursday to face Cairo and Berrien at 5 p.m.
