An Albany man arrested during a Colquitt County traffic stop was denied bond and remains behind bars at the Thomas County Jail.
Alvin Davis Jr., 40, 923 Crawford Drive, Albany, is charged with armed robbery in connection with a Thomasville incident.
Thomasville victims told police they had been robbed by Davis, who said the suspect took money from them.
“But they were not reporting the robberies because of the illegal activity they were doing,” said Lt. Wade Glover, commander of the Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
Meanwhile, Davis and another man were stopped in Colquitt County. Davis, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm stolen in Thomasville, Glover said.
“Whether someone is involved in an illegal act or not, we’re not going to let them get robbed and have a gun pointed at them, because that could lead to murder,” Glover said.
The commander said Davis robbed people who were afraid to come forward to report the crime.
Some victims, he said, did not want police involved.
“Maybe they were participating in illegal activities themselves,” Glover explained.
