ATLANTA – Jaycee Harden's one-play touchdown strike up top to Montavious Ponder and Daijun Edwards' cut outside for six points gave the Colquitt County High Packers a 14-3 halftime lead over North Gwinnett High Saturday. The long-distance rivals are playing their first games of the new season in the 2019 Corky Kell Classic at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Both teams trudged through a scoreless first period, but Colquitt was on the move late. First, there was a holding penalty to overcome, then first-down catches in Bulldog territory by Carter Boatwright and Tajh Sanders. On the final play, Lemeke Brocktington took a hit on the reception but gained 10 more yards to the NG 5.

Edwards scored on the second period's opening play. Jason Gallardo, in his first football game, made the PAT. He also put the football in the end zone three times for touchbacks.

Harden and Ponder connected for 52 yards upon getting possession back.

While that drive was one play long, the Bulldogs held the football for nearly eight minutes to get to the Packer 4 in 17 plays. But it only resulted in a field goal made from 26 yards out.

On defense, Omarian Daniels forced a fumble on DJ Hart's catch, Biron Silas recovering on the CC 38. Ty French sacked quarterback JR Martin and Antonio Spradley nearly picked off a pass prior to the field goal.

Harden was 6-for-11 for 113 yards.
