MOULTRIE ―The Moultrie Police Department responded to two Nov. 9 shootings, one fatal and the other not.
A man was found shot in a yard on the 1000 block of Seventh Street N.W. by witnesses around 3:50 p.m., attended by an EMS and later life-flighted out of state, where he remains, according to the GBI press release.
The MPD was assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, attempting several searches and witness interviews to discover the full story but to no avail.
However, another shooting occurred at 9 p.m.
A 911 call led the MPD and GBI to find a woman shot on the 800 block of 12th Avenue S.E. Neighbors in the area said they heard four or five shots.
Still alive at the scene, the woman was rushed to a local hospital but passed away there shortly. A GBI press release marked the shooting as a “drive-by,” which was deduced from the multiple rounds fired at the woman.
Colquitt County Coroner C. Verlyn Brock said the state medical examiner in Macon will perform the autopsy on Nov. 12.
No arrests have been made. Both victims remain unnamed by the MPD and their respective investigations are ongoing.
