UPDATE: Victim from Saturday's fatal shooting in Moultrie identified

A woman, Alexandra Jayle, was found shot at the 800 block of 12th Avenue S.E. (above) and was subsequently taken to a local hospital, according to a GBI press release. Shortly thereafter, she died.

MOULTRIE ― The Moultrie Police Department, assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, responded to a Saturday 911 call that led them to the scene of a young woman’s eventual death from gunshot wounds.

Alexandra Jayle, 18, was found shot on the 800 block of 12th Avenue S.E. late Nov. 9. Neighbors said they heard four or five shots before police responded at 9 p.m.

Jayle was transported to a “local hospital,” but her injuries proved fatal and she died there shortly after.

The GBI press release noted that Jayle was found where “multiple rounds were fired at [her] and others present at the scene,” and therefore marked it as a “drive-by” shooting.

Colquitt County Coroner C. Verlyn Brock said the state medical examiner in Macon will perform her autopsy on Nov. 12.

No arrest has been made, but the investigation is ongoing.

GBI agents searched and examined half a city block in response, recovering multiple shell casings and projectiles from nearby vehicles and houses also struck by gunfire.

Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI at 229-225-4090, Moultrie Police at 229-985-3131 or Colquitt 911.
