Karli Parker, left, and Elizabeth Beacham, right, of the Colquitt County High School FFA won their categories in the FFA Area V Sub-Area speaking competitions recently at Tift County High School and went on to the area level at Lee County High School last month.
Beacham won the Area Prepared Public Speaking contest and is advancing to the State FFA Convention held in Macon at the end of April. In Prepared Public Speaking the contestants had to give a 6-8 minute speech on a topic that they prepared before the contest.
Parker earned 4th place in the Area Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest. In Extemporaneous Public Speaking, the contestants had to be able to give a 4-6 minute speech on an agriculturally related topic given to them at the contest.
