April Williams-Smith

AMERICUS, Ga. —  April Williams-Smith, a Moultrie native and former Lady Packer, started her educational career graduating seniors in 1998 and now she is graduating kindergarteners during her first year as a principal in Sumter County Primary School in Americus, Ga.

Williams-Smith has served as a math teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal at multiple levels, including primary and secondary.

“It has been a great educational journey in leading educators to empower all students with knowledge as they begin their adventures on the path to graduation, which is the school’s vision,” Smith said. “My experiences as an assistant principal and a principal for 14 years have really been a great adventure for me and it is my goal to continuously make a difference in each child’s life.”   

Sumter County Primary School held kindergarten graduation for the 2018-2019 Super Panther Kindergarten Class at Georgia Southwestern State University Storm Dome. Tracy Barber, family & community engagement coordinator, and Eric Bryant, chief deputy, gave motivational speeches for parents and students.  Afterwards, Smith presented each student their kindergarten diploma. The event culminated with the class singing songs led by music teacher Mike Ryan.
