Union Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrate its Annual Women’s Day by honoring Josephine Felton Alexander for “70 years of faithful service” to the church. The theme for the event will be “A Gracious Woman Retaineth Honor — Proverbs 11:16”. The celebration is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 26.

Alexander, known as “Jo”, was the first-born child to the late “Bubba” and Euther B. Felton. She was taught at an early age “to love the Lord with all of your heart” and was baptized at age 7 at Union Missionary Baptist Church where she continued to be active.

She was educated in the public schools of Colquitt County, and she continued her education at Spellman College in Atlanta where she received a bachelor of science degree in home economics and a certification in Elementary Education.

She taught in the Ben Hill County School system and Colquitt County School system for 30 years before retirement.

She is active in numerous civic and professional organizations but has “put God first as head of her life” in all of her undertakings. She said she attributes her success to her beloved church.

She is married to Ralph Alexander and has three daughters.
