MOULTRIE -- With a new executive director who has her New Year's Resolutions in place, the Colquitt County Arts Center is ready for the new year.
Becca Martin Turner, a native of Bainbridge, was recently named executive director of the Arts Center.
Turner received both her bachelor's degree in agriculture and master's of mass communications from the University of Georgia.
Her goal is to make the Arts Center successful in the coming year.
"It is part of the Arts Center's mission to make available quality visual, literary and performing art," Turner said.
She said that, as a New Year's resolution, she has challenged her staff to reach all segments of the population so that everyone can benefit from the Arts Center.
Turner hopes to raise more funds from local businesses and art patrons in order to offer more scholarships.
"There are many ways to help sponsor a student who may not otherwise be able to afford to take advantage of the Arts Center's offerings," she said.
Turner also hopes to find local artists who are not currently involved and bring them to the Arts Center.
She previously served as Project Updraft coordinator at Bainbridge College and served two internships with Dow AgroSciences.
She is married to Richie Turner of Moultrie.
