A man accused of breaking into a vacant house told police he spent the night there after being kicked out of his residence, Moultrie Police Department reports said.
Leo Jeroid Hightower was arrested in the 500 block of Fourth Court Northwest when he was found inside by the officer investigating damage to the house.
Troy O’Hearn of Moultrie reported that two doors were pried open and two windows were damaged. The estimated amount of damage was $600.
When O’Hearn and the officer went inside, Hightower stepped out of a closet and was taken into custody, police reports said. He told the officer he had been kicked out of his house by family members and went into the house through a window because he needed a place to say for the night.
Hightower, 26, 400 12th Ave. S.E., was charged with criminal damage to property.
